  • The technical service & development roll will work on the specific laboratory programs aimed at providing responsive and pro-active customer service and technical service. Participate in the planning of projects and work with minimal supervision. Assume full responsibility for the outcome of assigned projects. Establish and maintain effective and credible relationships with key customers and establish a working relationship with sales people that will result in requests for customer interaction. Where appropriate, participate in strategic account team(s), managing significant, strategic account interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist relevant Account, Marketing and Technical Managers in defining the technical needs/demands of their business and the strategies/plans/actions needed to meet and exceed customer expectations in these areas.
  • Seek and maintain direct contact with selected customers, as agreed with appropriate Commercial managers and Technical Manager and use this responsibility to enhance the perception of those customers of its Coating Materials. Establish professional and technical credibility with them in that will result in an outcome of requests from sales people for customer interaction.
  • Manage assigned staff and own time to fulfill the strategies/plans outlined above.  This will involve the evaluation of new and existing products, demonstrating product performance, general applications support and resolution of customer complaints.  It includes planning, preparation and implementation of training programs, technical seminars/workshops and market support programs.  The output will be of high quality and comprehensible for wide range of internal/external clients.
  • Cooperate with the Technical Manager in ensuring day-to-day activities are consistent with and focused on long term objectives as defined in the laboratory plan. Use project planning tools to set objectives, timelines, costs, milestones and obtain feedback to plan and agreement from relevant parties prior to commencement of work.
  • Establish and maintain an effective rapport with technical peers in each of the Asia Pacific and Global Technical Centers and use this relationship to help develop a spirit of cooperation and commitment.
  • Accept responsibility for the control of at least one general Laboratory activity aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the Laboratory, or the capability of the technical group as a whole.
  • Where assigned, work effectively as an active member of a cross-functional, strategic account team, responsible for managing and fulfilling the day-to-day needs of nominated strategic accounts.
  • Accept responsibility for own and colleagues’ safety using it’s Safety principles.
  • Technical requirements to meet agreed strategies in relevant market segments.
  • Planning, design, implementation, monitoring and modification (as necessary) of strategies / programs / projects in alignment with above
  • Control of own agreed work program as agreed with Technical Manager.
  • Technical and field support as required.
  • Provide input to management on the performance and development needs of staff.


Education Background and Experience Requirements:
  • University Bachelor of Science degree or Advanced Diploma or Masters Degree / Doctorate in Organic Science. (Organic Science is MUST)
  • Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience plus a few years of technical service experience. Alternatively, Masters Degree/Doctorate and minimum 2 years commercial laboratory experience. (Lab experience is MUST, and hands-on technical service experience is also MUST)
  • Native or fluent Japanese. (MUST)
  • Business level English. (ex TOEIC :600) (MUST)
  • Knowledge of other languages such as Korean is beneficial.
